First off, let me warn you not to refrain from reading the list for a
week if you don't set vacation and don't read the digest. I just
made that mistake.

Do you have Newton Connection Utilities on the PowerBook? If not,
that's what you need. I see that you've said you have both the Newt
and the 3400 set to serial, but if you're running Newton Connection
Kit, it won't work, as NCK was written for older Newts. Also, make
sure that you have NCU set to the proper serial port and that you
don't have AppleTalk enabled over that port.
