Hey! You know - sometimes things are just meant to be!

I followed the first link you sent - it turned out to be a local (Seattle
area) tech equipment recycler. I just went down and bought 2 battery
holders and 2 extra stylus -AND- the Newt is up and running!

Wow - easy AND fun!
