Robert,

installing a system patch is quiet easy, but I think you definitely should
start from scratch, I mean all previous patches removed.
I think that this is the only chance as well to get rid of this calibration
message.
But to do this you need a second ROM-Card at least for a short time.

To find out more about the ROM versions history and numbering you can search
the archives as well or consult the NTLK FAQ.
