[NTLK] word count in notepad?

Does anybody know if it's possible to get the word count for a note in
the Newt's Notes application?

I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year, and I'd kind of rather not have to
transfer my notes to the computer to do the word count. (I will
transfer each day's writing to the computer so I can post it on my
homepage, but I'd prefer to have an idea of how much I've written before
I decide to call it a day and move to my computer.)
