I used it for a couple of months, but was disappointed that it used AOL
technology, which I was hoping to get away from. It was nice to be in a
Mac-only environment, but while the forum leaders tried valiantly to post
topics and generate discussions, it was pretty much a ghost town from the
get-go.
I've always thought that a big part of what killed it was that it was
pronounced DOA almost the moment it shipped. I remember a big article in the
SF Chron about a month after its launch that stated that very thing. I had
signed up as soon as it was possible, but hadn't even gotten my start-up
discs at that point. So it seemed just a tad premature to be announcing its
demise when the faithful hadn't even had a chance to join yet, nor can I
imagine that such bad press would encourage others to make the jump.
