You needn't any keyboard commands. Just go here:

Somewhere at the top of the page you will find a link that lets
you download DataRescue. Put it on a card with your working Newton
and plug the card into the dead Newton while it is on. DataRescue
will automatically open a connection that allows you to do a backup
with NCU or NBU.
