I read the article as well and have to say it's BS. Bluetooth has quite
a lot of potential, just look at stuff like Salling Clicker. It just
has to be done right. The usual problems with Bluetooth are
noncompliant BT stack implementations and lack of applications. These
are problems on the software side which can be easily solved. The
fundamental hardware and low level protocol are perfectly ok. I'm sure
it will take a long time until you'll see 802.11 on a mobile phone, but
BT is already there. 802.11 just sucks up batteries like crazy, and I
don't see it approaching the ~50mA transmit power consumption possible
with BT now.

Somebody on Slashdot has compared BT with USB a couple of years ago,
and I think the comparison is valid. Remember which company boosted USB
so it became a mainstream item? They will do the same with BT. And I
certainly won't get any cell phone which doesn't have BT. Once you've
used it, there's no way you want to do without it. Just wait till Blunt
is finished and you've equipped your Newton with an internal BT
module...

PS: Don't worry about my other software, I'm still working on it...
right at this moment ;)
