Paul, go for the FAT thing first. Connecting the Newton to a whole world
out there while on the run is much more important and useful than more
speed. Not that more speed won't be appreciated, it will be important when
most Newtons have crossed the 512 MB or 1 GB-barrier.
But interconnectibility of Newton-Cards...

Say, on a journey, one could take go to an internet café, plug the card in
there and have all data available, download stuff to the card (fresh
MP3s!), upload fotos and do it all WITHOUT any connection of my Newton to
any equipment in the location required.
The use as mobile image store you've already mentioned... Really valuable
for photographers or on long trips. And everything could be exchanged with
any other device able of understanding FAT and reading cards - like a
laptop and whatever.
Imagine audio recording on 2xk and just swapping cards, reading the
recording off on a PC with Pro Tools - all without any wire or other
technical hassle.

And the best - anybody with FAT cards from cameras and whatever could try
if they'd run with their Newton. No need really to even buy an extra card
anymore to test this! I think THAT would be a major thing.

FAT now. Speed next. Then FAT32. *grin*

Cheers,

DJV.
