Sorry for the late response.

The only thing that has replaced my my Newt 2100 - in some respects - is a
Handspring Visor Prism (color is nice) with accessories.

The main things I use it for, of which some used to be Newton-based
- Wi-Fi access with Xircom SpringBoard WiFi card (Ino longer Newt w/ WiFi
card)
- Wireless Web access through VisorPhone (no longer Newt w/ NovaTel Merlin
card)
- Phone itself, with the aforementioned VisorPhone (never used one of the
Newt-compatible PCMCIA phones, but I suppose I could've)
- Pager, with VisorPhone (no longer Newt w/ Apple Pager card)
- Take photos with Kensington SpringBoard camera (no longer Olympus camera
w/ Tibet software with adapter cable)
- GPS SpringBoard card - (never used the Newt with a GPS unit via serial
cable or a PCMCIA unit, but some do)

That said, why do I still use my Newton, in fact why did I spend today
overhauling it with a new screen, case, and power switch?

Handwriting recognition - I take notes in meetings, often as long as 4
hours, and use the Newton as my repository of project schedules, dates and
status. NOTHING I have tried (and I'll relate the amusing anecdote when I
went by a Dell kiosk in the mall hawking Tablet PCs, with Newt in hand...)
has the simple elegance of the Newt interface and handwriting recognition
everywhere.

We do own an antiquated, dead-end, 20th century relic.

Along the lines of a 1963 Ferrarri.
