AVI is the usual program for backdrop use. now if u want the whole process this is the way i do it.
bitmap into photoshop for resizing
drop resized picture into newton press edit properties to make it a backdrop.
save as a package and install to newton.
if you noticed i didnt say anything about changing the colors to greyscale or any other combo. i leave it to newton press to do that part and it works fine for me.
