There is an add-on spellchecker called SpellTools floating around on some of
the download sites. It was formerly marketed by Newer Technology but has
been available as freeware for some time. Version 1.3 works under System
Software 7.5 through OS 8.6. There is an updater available to make it work
under OS 9 through 9.2.2.
One of its functins is "Normalize Returns of Text Selection" which will
strip out all extra CRs from the start of selected text until the end of the
text selection or pair of CRs, which iever comes first.
This is very handy for "repairing" hard-formatted text.
