I guess maybe the AP is the issue...?

So not to beat the subject to death, but are your clients(emate)
configured to use the AP as a gateway? Or how does that work?

I wonder if using a PCI card 802.11b card as the AP in the PC instead
as your stand-alone wireless AP would allow netatalk to work
wirelessly. I'll bet it would...
