I don't think it's so much that they're "stupid" (nor do I think this
is necessarily the case with anyone who uses a Windows computer), as
the OS puts a friendly face on tasks that could be potentially harmful
(like clicking on a file to open it, or an application to run it) but
can't always provide a warning of what harm can come.
In the case of OS X, it lowers the barrier of entry to Unix to make it
more useful to more people. Not necessarily stupid people...just *more*
people.
