I had a similar problem re dns resolution. I chose to solve it by
setting up a dns proxy. Everything works fine now. I used pdnsd on
debian linux as the dns server in the emate config and I can resolve
domain names fine. I would assume there will be a similar solution for
your situation. FWIW, I don't know why the emate was unable to use my
ISPs nameserver as everything else worked fine, but once I put the proxy
in it all worked perfectly.
