Thanks for the tips guys. That link for the lid is pretty helpful,
should hopefully keep these emates running a good bit longer.

There does not appear to be any physical damage to the lid, but it could
have happened at some point in the past I am sure. Adjusting the
contrast seems to make the spot almost dissappear. The touch screen and
backlight features both work perfectly as well, so that took the worry
off a bit too.
