Yes, the 4M+ does have Ethernet. Sorry, I just assumed that because
the 5MP starts with a higher number it would have at least the same
features :)

So maybe my solution won't work with your printer. I may not be
understanding your setup -- is the Asante some kind of
Ethernet-LocalTalk bridge hardware thingy? If so maybe that's the
piece you can assign an IP address to, not the printer itself? Maybe
the printer wouldn't have an IP address if it's running LocalTalk.
