[NTLK] swapping between ethernet and wavelan

Hi all,

I just found an Orinoco Silver (at a local used mac shop - big sign
inside, advertising wireless cards for <list of older laptops>) and
downloaded Hiroshi's drivers... card is recognized and all that, it pops
up the slip identifying the card and asking if I want to use it for
appletalk... but now when I take it out and put my wired ethernet card
in, it *doesn't* do that, and I can't connect to NCU to do a backup :-(

(And I can't connect with the wireless... not sure if it's a problem
with the card or the basestation, but I haven't been able to connect to
anything yet wirelessly. I'm actually betting on the basestation,
because my husband's iBook's wireless connection is really flakey and he
usually uses a wire.)

Do the wavelan and ethernet drivers conflict or something? Or is there
something I have to do to tell the Dock to use the ethernet card? The
blinky-lights come on when I insert the card into the newton, but as I
said, no slip comes up asking me if I want to use the card for
appletalk, so the Dock sits there and spins its wheels, not making the
card's light blink at all, when it looks for a mac to connect with via
appletalk.

I have two internet setups, "Home Ethernet" and "Home Wireless", and my
"home" worksite has an internet connection and an 802.11b connection
defined, each with the appropriate internet setup chosen. (Just had a
thought - would *that* cause the conflict? If so, how do I delete one of
the connection definitions in the worksite? I can only seem to edit or
add...)

BTW, this ethernet card was working before. I did a backup with it, and
even popped onto the internet briefly, just to test.

That's the problem with world domination. Nobody is willing to wait for
it anymore, work slowly towards it, drink more and enjoy the ride more.
