[NTLK] [OT] Windows XP Problem

G'Day list,

I seem to be having a mite of a problem and am trying to figure out
the casue and/or solution.

To properly use the Gmail Indicator that Google has released, I
decided to try IE as the default browser (just for a moment, mind you)
as Opera was/is my current favorite. Anyway, I disassociated Opera
(7.4 btw) and had IE check if it was the default browser. Shutdown,
restart and open IE.... nada!

Alright, so now all *.html pages open in IE (except for the Gmail
indicator... D'oh!) and yet I still am showing the icon that means
nothing is associated with it.

If I manually (right click>open with/properties) set IE to open with
it, it doesn't change, if I set FireFox, their icon will show up, same
with Opera. If I set it to notepad, wordpad, etc... it still shows
Opera's icon. Just for the record, yes I did disassociate Opera *and*
I checked the box "use this program to open this file all the time..."

Anyway, while it isn't a big deal, I *am* a bit of a perfectionist and
don't like knowing something is broken. any idea on how to bring my
headaches to a ceasation. On that same point, while if IE is the
default browser the Gmail indicator will not open a browser (even if
right click | VIEW INBOX) however again, if Opera and/or FireFox are
setup it will open up in their respective browsers (however that is of
little use to Opera users.....)

Hopefully someone can lend me an idea...
