Not to rehash an old OT discussion about this (there's plenty in the
archives) just a few facts:
I play CD's on a high-end configuration but the difference with vinyl
can be done blindfolded (and I don't mean the pops etc.)
Same for original CDs vs. copied
Same for copied vs. mp3
Even copied on different brands of CDs and different burning speeds
could be picked out.

Read this well, all tests done blind. I am not a believer by nature ;-)

We could hold a meeting bigger than all the Newton users in the world

I'm looking both ways. Will probably buy an MP3 solution for in the
car, but it won't enter my living room...
But your point is valid, most stereo's won't let you hear the
difference anyway and most young ears have been ravished by loud car
stereos etc. by now.
