I have to agree about entourage...

Also, the big thing about sending files to windows seems to be
training mac people to use proper file extensions... Maybe the check
box mentioned above does this automagically.

I usually try to explain it this way:

Windows PCs are stupid, so the only way they have a chance of doing
anything useful with your data is if the person receiving understands
computers (unlikely), or you put the proper file extension on your
attachment (usually .doc (yech)).
