[NTLK] The Twelfth day of Christmas, and I'm somewhat puzzled.

Okay, it's the Twelfth Day of Christmas, if I count the gifts I gave you -
but it's only January 5th! Shouldn't the 12th Day of X-Mas be the
Appearance of the Magi, i.e. January 6th - which is Christmas-day in
orthodox Christianity?

Did I count wrong? Or is it actually thirteen days of Christmas and I've
been fooled by folklore? Somebody solve the puzzle for me, pls., there may
be a reward.

***

Anyhow, for the twelfth day of Christmas, allow me to present something a
bit bigger:
"The Adventures of Gerard" by Arthur Conan Doyle, clocking in at a
solid 620 pages on Newton Classic format (of course packages for all
formats available, as usual).

Somebody mentioned the old Brigardier on NTLK recently, and so I
thought it might be nice to bring his brave and gallant adventures during
the Napoleonic Wars to your esteemed attention. As Brigardier Etienne
Gerard, ret. Col. of the renowned regiment of Light Hussars of Conflans,
sits in his café in Paris and tells his tales for his friends and a bottle
of wine, accompany him as his career takes him from Venice to the Iberian
Peninsula, from Minsk to Great-Britain, from Belgium to... But have the
chivalrous colonel tell all in his own words.

Gerard's yarn is nothing less than brilliant, as are his riding and
swordmanship. You like mind-boggling adventures that freeze your blood? He
delivers. You want romance and chivalry, and woe to all brutes? Get it
here! You like a between-the-lines joke an author might throw in, which his
character wouldn't even notice after decades? As long as the old man
doesn't see you smile or hears you laughing out loud, you're well off - for
has he not challenged a dozen fighting men at once for laughing at him?
You think I dealt you good stuff before? Then take a whiff of this and
let me know if you like it. This one is unfortunately too little known
today, but surely one of the best action thrillers, plus it's funny. Get it
from UNNA or myself.

With this excellent book which very much deserves your attention I end this
Christmas Craze of 2003.
I hope to have shown that it's very easy and simple to make nice and
quality Newton eBooks, even if you turn up the output. If you never tried
it before, pls. do so today - grab a story or text you always wanted to
read or share with others, and just do it. It's fun, it'll be appreciated
by others, and good books make the best eBook reader ever even more valuable.

Folks, seriously - we gotta get more content going!

Much love to you and yours, and a happy 2004 -

DJ Vollkasko.
