Just had a look inside - the grey battery wire is pinched at that
little junction where it bends up from the board and around to the main
contact. Looks like a possible candidate. Might make sense, given that
the casing was jostled before when it was dropped and the rod holding
the spring jarred...
Pretty tiny wires there, too - fortunately, if it needs to be cut
short, the crimp is very close to where it connects anyway.
