[NTLK] nearly OT - audio out connector and stereo headphones

Hi all,
I just installed a 3,5 mm headphone jack in my Newton following Daniel
Padilla´s instructions:

The Newton is still working :) But unfortunately, the only headphone
jack I found suitable for a painless installation seems to be stereo -
the Newton´s mono signal only arrives in one channel. Is there any
workaround for this? E.g., can I rewire the plug somehow, or do I need
an external mono -> stereo adapter?
