[NTLK] Newton <-> OS X connection woes

So, it arrived this morning, my "new" Newton MessagePad 2100.
BF2000-CT and Orinoco Classic Gold cards have been ordered from Amazon,
the first already arrived. Eager to put it to use, I download a couple
of Newton user manuals from Apple, plug in my Keyspan USB->Serial cable
adaptor, Frankenstein that to a null-modem cable, and graft a DB9->DIN8
adaptor at the other end, which gets thrust into the SER-001 board on
my Newton. I fire up NewTen and attempt to install the
"BluntMP2x00US.pkg" file.

Nothing.

Both the Newton and NewTen time out. So, I download and fire up Escale
OSX. It connects, gets as far as "Connecting to Newton: getting
name..." and then crashes (every time) with either EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION
or EXC_BAD_ACCESS.

I did my homework (check versions, reinstall, reboot, etc., etc.) but
still nothing. NewTen times out, Escale crashes.

Anyone have any ideas? All I need to do is to get the drivers onto the
Newt... somehow...

FYI: TiBook running 10.3.4, Keyspan USA-19HS USB->DB9 Serial adaptor,
KeyspanUSAdrvr18 (for 10.3, Escale 1.0.1, NewTen 1.2.

M.
