If your Newton sometimes IS a lemon you don't need to do the last step of
pledging your soul. In such situations, however, it IS best to spray the
pledge directly onto the screen. Not only there but also into the pen holder
and for about 5 seconds into the memory card slot. That ought to do it.
If you accept this advice, don't worry, you don't need a newton anyway. Not
even the most sophisticated personal assistant will do you any good you as
you're beyond help.
