On the slip for your inserted card, there's a checkbox that says "Store
new information and packages on card". What that does is tell the newton
to use the store on the card for new data and package installation. That
seems pretty obvious to say, but....

The checkbox you're looking at *overrides* that Flash card preference
checkbox, for a particular package's information. One might want to do
that if a package was installed internally, and won't go away with the
removal of the card, and you thus want all the package's data to *also*
stay. Or perhaps some data is somewhat personal and you're the sort to
misplace cards, but can keep track of your Newt.
