I have had a chance to catch up on the posts regarding my post of there
being several MP2100s being put out on eBay and thought I would offer some
response...not that most of you at this point really care. You can each
choose to believe this a scam and I understand your reasons for making that
assumption...but it is just that, an assumption. Because I am the person
who a few years ago joined this group in an effort to better understand the
MP, I have been the one recently to message this group about the sale of
Newtons that we have in inventory...but that doesn't mean I am the person
for my group that is organizing the sale of these Newtons. When I first
messaged this group about the Newton sale I specifically stated that the
interest was in "bulk" sales...which we carried through with. It is true
that I did get emails from some in this group that I did not respond to and
that was primarily because of requests to purchase single units...which I
had already stated we were not yet doing. Those who were interested in bulk
sales were contacted and we have completed most of these transactions.
As for the zero feedback status of the seller...that is to be expected of a
seller who is new to eBay. The company I work for is not in the business of
selling items on eBay and therefore would have no reason to have any
previous seller feedback.

As for not selling directly to the members of this list...the only intended
direct sale to this group was through bulk sales...which we did do. A
request to purchase between 1 and 5 Newtons was not considered a bulk
purchase and did not coincide with the original email looking for those
interested in bulk purchases. I will admit, I did fail to respond to one
email that did offer to purchase a "modest" bulk sale...I do apologize.

As for "testing the waters" as you put it, the only thing I was trying to
say was that I had been told that in order to place items on eBay with a
"purchase now" price that the seller had to receive a certain amount of
feedback on the items they were planning on selling. It was for this
purpose that the single Newton was placed on eBay at the end of last week.
If this is not a requirement from eBay to list an item with a "purchase now"
price then I apologize for having said so, but was only relaying the
information I was given.

As for shipping overseas, the original listing on eBay was not anything I
was involved in. I did receive an email today asking if we would ship to the
UK and I have been told that as long as the purchaser covers the cost of
shipping that there is no reason why we can't/won't ship to the UK. I do
not know about the question of shipping APO. In defense of those who set
this up on eBay, they are/were not aware of this group and therefore did not
take into consideration the large number of overseas users in this group. I
have since made them aware of this fact.

As for the thought that we were going to sell to this list first, this list
was not the sole intended location to sell the Newtons. I had told people
on this list a long time ago that if the sale of these Newtons became a
reality that I would let everyone know...and that is just what I did.

As for my statement to one on this list that I am not the seller, well, I am
not. But to assume that I did or did not relay his information regarding
the stylus is a bad assumption.

As for the statement "this person is capitalizing on our wants." I have
nothing ventured in this and get nothing out of it. I was simply the
messenger trying to let you all know of the upcoming sale...something I had
told people a couple years ago I would do.

If you want, go back in the archives to 12/13/01 and 12/14/01 and you will
see my original posts to this group. I stated at that time the fact that
the company I worked for was using almost 1,800 Newtons to collect research
data and that once the contract was over that I wasn't sure what the
government would decide they wanted to do with the Newtons. It would make
no sense for me to start this scam some two plus years ago...but believe
what you will.
