I read an interesting article by Cringley several years ago about an
article idea he had after reading an interview with Gates where Gates
was asked why he didn't appear at more industry shows with Jobs. Gates
said, "I like Steve, but he bullies me."
Cringley got interested in this and proposed interviewing each of them
about the other. After some back-and-forth it was agreed to by both
Jobs and Gates, with the condition that the article had to contain the
full interview with both of them.
Cringley interviewed Gates first: as he put it "Neither of them is
normal, but Gates is closer to normal than Jobs." He did an hour
interview with Gates, and then contacted Apple to arrange Steve's
interview. Jobs refused to schedule it. Cringley decided it was
because Jobs got a two-for-one out of it: he annoyed Cringley and
wasted an hour of Bill's time.
I know a guy that has been involved in business dealings with Jobs.
He said Jobs is fine to work with as long as you remember that he's a
shark, not a bunny. Judge from that what you will.
