Usually when the EL ages the inverter hums more so maybe putting in a
new one will reduce the hum a bit, I have a sheet about 1 meter long
that i'm running directly on 220v AC no hums there, but i should really
think about putting in some kind of current limiting resistor because
it won't last very long
