I reset my Newton and reinstalled them again in the following order :

Inetenbl.pkg
Inetstup.pkg
Enetsup.pkg
Newtdev.pkg

NIE-Patch-v4.pkg

LucentWaveLAN_v1p08a.pkg

I even installed the more wifi

But still nothing

Same thing all the times, nothing works, either dhcp or manual.

I am getting desperate and looking at some Orinoco gold cards from ebay, but
before I go ahead and make the purchase is there anything else I should do ?

Will the gold card work ?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Regards,

Nicholas Papadakos

Hello and thank you for your reply.

First I don't use dhcp, I use static ip address.
Now about the firmware I have no clue how to see it, I looked for a couple
of days online for lucent drivers firmware updates but I couldn't locate
anything useful for the bronze series. I found some drivers at proxim
website for gold and silver cards but nothing for bronze. I tried them but
whenever I tried to do a firmware upgrade the laptop freezed. Also I dont
use wep I don't have that high expectations from those old pieces of
hardware :)
I got them for 20$ from eBay ( 10 pieces) and even though they are limited
to 2 mb they are proved to be very useful as I have found some use for all
(!) of them either at work or at home. I haven't come across any firmware
update progs if u have anything in mind pleas elet me know :)

Regards, and thank you for your time

And I thought I was bad with having two. :-)

It sounds like it it thinks it doesn't see your AP.

Are you using a fixed IP address for the wireless card or relying on
DHCP to give you an address? If you're using DHCP, are you sure you
actually got an address.

Well, that would be me... :-)

A couple of thoughts...

1) Are you using DHCP on the newton? That was the one thing I could
never get to work right.

2) How recent is the firmware in your cards? The Bronze's are pretty
old cards, so it might be worth trying to flash one to the latest
firmware.

3) I'll assume you're not trying to use WEP as you need the registered
driver for that and the Bronze's officially don't support it (though i
think it was quietly added by one of the latter firmware updates).
