I thought the reference was to the eighties British sci-fi. (Well, it
played here in the 1980's, I guess it might never have played in the
states.)
I'm pretty sure you can get it on DVD, but my experience is that you
should never ever revisit old TV shows that gave you pleasure when you
were young, I've found it to be extremely disappointing. It all just
dates so horribly.
From memory my favourite was Beanpole, but that might just be because
it's the only name I remember.
