Actually, I heard an unconfirmed rumor from an Apple employee who
isn't particularly well placed for this information (and may
therefore be wrong) that Henrico is doing a bit of legal stealing
with these computers. It is rumored that Apple "sold" them well more
than 1,000 of these iBooks at $1 apiece as a charitable gesture. If
that's true, selling them at $50 apiece starts to look a little more
shady, but it's surely legal. Further, the source believes the
computers are used.

Anyway, they are likely to be popular at those prices, but the
consensus at the Washington Apple Pi is that it isn't worth the drive
to Richmond for a clogged parking lot of "as is," four year old, used
computers. The residents-only restriction sort of decides that, now.
