Hi,

if you own n.2 Newtons and one of them is completely discharged
you will be able to power the discharged Newton using the first one.

All you need is a NewtLight a NewtAC and the NewtLight application.

First connect the NewtLight serial plug to the functional MessagePad =20
and the NewtAC current plug to the discharged one.
Then hook both the adapters together, start the NewtLight.app stored =20
on the functional MessagePad,
tap 'Connect' and just turn-on the second device.

Thanks to Frank, who made the wonderful NewtLight application
you can also make some tests about the MessagePad current consumption
[in example: once the second device will be turned-on, the NewtLight =20
window on the first device
will display how much current is drained during the boot,
so one can turn-on the backlight and look at what the NewtLight.app =20
will show,
or can connect a keyboard, a pcmcia card, a flash card, bluetooth, =20
wifi, etc etc etc =85]

Please remember the WARNING (as printed on all NewtLight envelopes):
MP2K/eMate can source a maximum current of 500mA at 5V, shared among =20
the serial port and the PCMCIA card slot(s).
Power used by the card slot(s) must be subtracted to determine the =20
amount of current available to the port.
The specification says that the maximum power that should be sourced =20
by the serial port should never exceed 100mA.
Higher currents should be safe as long as the total power budget of =20
500mA isn't exceeded.

Don't forget to publish your own experiences on the Newton WikiPedia:

Many thanks,

Adriano
