Well, just for the record... I've been using various Newtons on a daily
basis for almost ten years now. I have never made an effort to clean the
crud out from around the display area. My regular care and maintenance
routine rarely extends past wiping the dust and fingerprints off with a
soft cloth. That being said, I have never had jaggies plague any of my
Newts.

Pure dumb luck? Perhaps.
