I am back too...
Lots of comebacks today!

After not following the list for some months, since my email
accountthat i was using for the list was severely hit by spam, and
after also receiving a Palm T3 as a gift...I am back...

And the T3 is on eBay....

I mean, it was pretty nice...cool device, awesome screen, great color,
intergrated bluetooth was excellent, the memory card slot also..

The size was also great... The handwriting was not so good....I mean it
did recognised the words but i had to get used to a very specific (and
disturbing) kind of writing.

The fact tha i could use it as a mp3 player with headphones was also
fantastic..

BUT

-Battery life...extremey short...

-The handwriting was not so good....I mean it did recognised the words
but i had to get used to a very specific (and disturbing) kind of
writing. And i had to write letters one on top of the other... :-(

-Very bad for taking long notes...something i do all the time...It was
the combination of small screen and the weird graffiti systetm

-OS....easy enough..it even had some (only some) of the AI the NewtonOS
has...but not enough of it.
But the most annoying thing was the extremely frequent crashes..Syncing
was a nightmare (even for just contacts!)

In the end, i used it mostly for contacts, to-dos, and mp3 player...

And then i looked again at my trusty couple of Newtons :-)

Ok, i miss the portability of T3, but modern mobile phones are quite
adequate for contacts and basic to-dos.

But for taking down long notes, Newton is still the best. Then i just
go home and print via IR to my printer...

I found out that modern PDAs are not still a replacement for a laptop.
Even the high end ones. At least for my needs.

But it is very unconvenient to take notes on your laptop (especially
with my carpal tunnel syndrome problem...)

I now treasure my Newton even more. And now, i am afraid of what i will
do when the hardware fails at some point, unavoidably (even though my
second Newton is a brand new in box, sealed, MP2100!)

It seems that i have forgotten a few things about the Newt... I have to
set it up again for email etc...But for now...nice to be back :-)

Kostas
