I already know the padilla's tray modification. Instead i did not know
that the thermister would have need to calculate the battery
temperature. I just though the thermister would be useful for letting
the Newt forward the energy from the AC adapter to the batteries, and
recharge them.

The 10KOhm thermister is usually attached through the two plates inside
the battery compartment in the newton. This way, it touches the
batteries and gives a reading of the temperature. But, because you are
using AAA batteries in AA holder things, the thermister will not touch
the batteries and therefore not give an accurate reading of the actual
batteries's temperature (assuming the AA holder things are not made of
something like alumuinium).

You could try de-soldering the 100Ohm resistor and converting your tray
like this:
