I use a Wacom Serial Tablet, a serial tablet on a eMac (without serial
ports) and OSX.

Paid $10 for the tablet, $0 for the Tablet driver on
Versiontracker.com, $2 for the RS232 to usb adapter and $0,50 for the
PS/2 to usb adapter (for 5V powering) .

Works pretty fine. Cheap and useful. Would not need a mouse and/or
keyboard anymore....

I can use the pen as a mouse pointer, it doesn't need to have the eyes
looking of the tablet, cause the portion tablet which is enabled on
moving the pointer virtually correspond to the measures of the
displayed desktop.

Writing could be cursive and printing.
Take in example browsing internet, i can click with the pen on the
navigation bar, then ink starts and i can write anywhere in the screen
and when i stopped to write the ink server recognize the words i have
written in the menu i have choosen as a place for the text, then i
sketch the "return" key and Safari start browsing that page.
Another example is on opening a Text Edit page: i can sketch onto it,
then click the ink "command" button and write "S" with the pen
(anywhere on the screen) and the page will be saved without using the
keyboard.
