Excuse me, I don't think what I had to say was a cop-out. It was an
explanation of why things don't always move as quickly as some might
wish, and why $12 is a bargain basement price for the effort someone
would make to replace NCU.
And I don't think I imply that the platform is dead. I'm working on
some things, myself, that I'll be sharing when I get the intellectual
property issues sorted out. I've just ordered an Intel-based Mac; you
can be sure I'll make sure I can sync my Newt to it, if I have to
write the software myself.
Everyone in the community shares responsibility for the status quo,
not just programmers. We live in a supply-and-demand economy; if the
community displays sufficient demand for a product, someone will
develop it. What I was saying is that $12 is not, in my opinion, a
sufficient display of demand for the commodity in question.
