While its true many list members read this on their Newton - as do I
from time to time - it seems to me that the 70% quote restriction in
place helps those of us in that category much more than top or bottom
posting would. The real issue isn't do you post above or below, its
do you trim properly. While bottom posting is slightly more conducive
to forcing users to trim properly, bottom or "in-line" posting is
only helpful in a challenge response situation where there are
several points the replier is replying to, as you did in your last e-
mail. In most of mine I am leaving the original's post's content
below - as I do with this one now - not for direct reference but
simply so that if someone needs they can connect who I was replying
to. In the case that I am making statements general that are
essentially a reply to the whole topic of the thread - I don't quote
anything because it would be misleading.
I guess I work from the assumption we are all educated adults and can
figure out what is most appropriate without attempting to legislate
it all. I am generally disappointed by the reality - on other lists
that is. On this one most things turn out just fine.
