I haven't done what you suggested (serial via BT), but I do install
packages all the time using BT by using Apple's Bluetooth file transfer
utility to send them and Eckharts Blunt and IC/VC to install them.

This allows me to "put away" the received packages. In the case of
packages this installs them. Works great!

Sorry I am no help with your real question, and I presume the above
info is no help to you, but may help others...
