Hi John,
sorry for the delay on responding.
You are right, NewtPod AP allow both recording and playback, but
differs a bit from NewtCast cause it's not Plaintalk compatible.
Consider then that NewtPod AP is compatible with most radio
transmitter "out of the box",
while any iPod microphone will need software support from the Newton.
Such software actually doesn't exist and iPod sockets are really hard
to find (harder then Interconnects...)
For your recording needs i think that NewtCast could be the best choice,
cause it's compatible with MessaePad, eMates and Voicenotes.
I also plan to sell a bunch of them in bundle with Plaintalk
microphones.
