Hello Susan,

Replacing the battery on the eMate is much less involved than the hinge
fix procedure.
Just get yourself a screwdriver with the proper size Torx bit and take
off the back panel of the eMate.
Should take all of ten minutes to yank out the old battery and throw in
a new one.

Before you buy another battery, see if the freeze-whack-thaw-recharge
procedure will give the battery a bit more life. Place ONLY the battery
in your freezer for about forty minutes. Take it out, wrap in a cloth,
and give it a few hard whacks (not too hard!) on the floor or the edge
of a table. Let the battery pack regain room temperature. Then, place
the battery back in the device and recharge. Might give a slight
performance increase...

Warmest regards,

Matt K. (former Detroit area secondary school teacher)
