Well what you want is a USB to serial adapter. Keyspan is one of the
better adapters, and it is well built. Which I think in you case would
be advantageous. It comes with drivers for both Windows and Mac. I have
heard there is a problem getting them to work sometimes in OSX and you
need to install them in a particular order. But not being a Mac user I
don't know what that sequence is, but I know it will be in the archives.
 And I suspect someone more knowledgeable than me will describe what you
need to know as well.
