I recommend using one of the applications that monitors the status of
the battery. I use Avi's backdrop which has a battery monitoring
utility built in Frank Gruendel's NewtTest will do this also
see <http://www.pda-soft.de/newttest.html>
This may help you see what is going on. NewtTest will also tell
whether you have the latest system patch installed, among othjer things.
