My guess:
it was released as "alpha,"
but worked so well it never needed changing,
and as a free tool, why bother...

I've never heard anyone complain about it.
But, then we won't _REALLY_ know until after the date,
even despite the several folks who've run their own,
very thorough date-resetting tests...
