Except the DS was optimized for graphics and has a color screen. I don't know about the Opera cart for the DS. I have mine equipped to run Homebrew software and there are several browsers available. I even have DSLinux running on it although no apps yet. I'm just looking for something to look up the TV listings in the living room when my computer is in my office. I may just use VNC. VNC on the DS is faster than VNC on the newton, plus again color. I actually see them running hand in hand. The DS has the better TCP/IP implementation and color. The Newton does everything else better.

The Nintendo DS is roughly half as powerful as an MP2*00 since it was
manufactured for cheapness, so web browsing is going to be pretty
limited. Opera sells a web browser for the DS (and if you turn the
images off, it's not too painfully slow). If you have a spare 30$ it
may fit what you need, but don't expect wonders since it isn't capable
of really doing anything (I don't think javascript works in it).
