I don't know that system error so no specifics.
In my experience the eMate will restart due to system error, though
it usually blames power, every week or so with regular use. At this
level I would live with it.
The NewerTech upgrade card is known to have difficulties with the
quality of the soldering, see the archives for Franks discussion of
this. His repair is reasonably priced. In case this is problem
KEEP frequent backups because a restart without the card will result
in a complete erase of all memory. I would also remove all power
and, remove the ram expansion and ROM board and reseat them.
In a rebuilt battery pack there can be up to 8 solder joints and a
problem with any one of them can result in an interruption of power
and a restart. With the battery tray modification I would look at
whether the batteries can move, arching or sliding which could result
in a temporary open circuit.
