Hi Gary,
Have you succeeded in reviving your eMate? Was it the sliders as Frank suggested?

Oh yes, it will go away, because Gary's cat is a female. Unneutered males are the ones that tend to leave marks for eternity. One of my (neutered) males once felt the need to mark the heating plate of the coffee percolator. I only realized it had been hit after I turned it on -- instead of the lovely scent of coffee, the smell that wafted through the apartment was... well, I guess I don't have to elaborate... Anyhow, I took the machine apart and thoroughly cleaned it, and the smell was (and stayed) gone.
Gary, just to be on the safe side -- re cats peeing around: That may also be the indication of a bladder infection. The cat associates the pain with the place where it pees, which is why the cat won't go to the litter box any more where it experienced the pain the first time. But the next time (different place) it will of course feel that pain again, and therefore will select yet another place to pee next time. If your cat has gone back to being 'her old self', then it doesn't sound like it's a matter of 'old-age dementia' (chronic), but an 'acute' case. Another reason may be that she felt annoyed by something or somebody -- for instance visitors over the weekend that she didn't like?
Anyway, all the best for your old girl -- and your eMate!
Gisela
