Are you missing some image stationary or something? Does it give you
the option to select the format of the attachment at all? I don't
remember how that works.

I know Daniel Padilla's Screen Shooter used the GifServer module for
NPDS to create the screenshots, but how it attached the GIFs to the
email in SimpleMail I'm not sure. I also recall that there was an
issue with using Screen Shooter with Mail V, but I don't recall the
exact problem or whether it was related to attaching the GIF or what.
