Actually, I just loved the way Newton OS 1.x expects you to set the time. When I got my Newton, it came with the Apple battery pack (that I am going to send to you to refurbish it, along with another pack), the original stylus, and the power adapter. Setting the time and date was one of the first things I did, and I could immediately figure out how to set the time without the manual. I think that NOS 1.x is the most intiuitive OS ever created. I did set the time on an eMate I bought for my little collection of computers (I do play occasionally with it, but my MP120 is still my only companion), and it was slow and cumbersome. (Why tap on upper and lower halves of numbers? Why tap on the New button to create something new? Just draw some lines here and there and there you have it!)

So I guess I'll just send mail from my Newton like I did until now:
1. Write the message.
2. At the end of the day, go home to the PC.
3. Synchronize Newton or use Sloup to transfer the message.
4. Log on to Yahoo! Mail, click "Compose", and paste in the text of the message.
5. Fill out the To and Subject fields, then click "Send".
6. And the message is finally sent.

Time consuming, eh?
So, if I can't have mail on my prehistoric Newt, can I have SMS? If I can, I will study NewtonScript day and night to learn how to use the modem and make my own SMS app, immediately after I get the "Programming for the Newton using Windows" book.
